The Downeast Patrol Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol is based at the Hancock County-Bar Harbor Airport. The squadron meets at the airport starting at 6:30 PM every Tuesday. The squadron participates in ground and air search and rescue, counter narcotics, and homeland security missions. As a "composite squadron" the unit has both senior members and cadets.
